Bruce conducted his annual pilgrimage to Kilnsey show this year and delivered a cookery demonstration with his usual flair and very natural charm. The Demonstration was extremely well attended and Bruce recieved over fifty entries into our free draw to win dinner for two.

Two of the recipes from Bruce’s demonstration are included below:
¼ box of tomatoes roughly chopped
4 red peppers (deseeded)
1½ red onions (chopped)
¼ bag of basil(picked)
2 cloves of garlic (crushed)
1/8th pt olive oil
¼ pt white wine vinegar
150g caster sugar
Method: Add all the ingredients to a food blender and blend until smooth and creamy
STRAWBERRY KEBABS WITH LAVENDER CUSTARD
Dried lavender flowers
¾ pint double cream
¼ pint milk
5 egg yolks
½ small vanilla pod
Clear wild honey
Make the kebabs by cutting the strawberries if large or leaving whole otherwise, removing the stalks and placing them onto the stick and adding a light coating of honey over the strawberries. Roast in a hot oven for approximately 4-5mins.
For the custard, bring the milk, cream, vanilla seeds and chopped lavender gently to boil. Whisk the egg yolks and the sugar together in a bowl, and then add the milk infusion onto it. Pass the infusion to remove the lavender.
Then return it back to the pan and stir continuously until the mixture coats the back of the spoon.
He then donned his running shorts and pegged it up Kilnsey Crag in the fell race and came a very respectable 14th.
