Should Wine Tasting be fun?

Well of course they should!
Wine is an expression of the joie de vivre. Often wine is portrayed as a very serious and complicated, somewhat academic subject for an eletist few. This is nonsense; wine is subjective so if you don’t like a particular wine, or don’t like wine full stop that is also fine. Everybody’s taste buds are different, and so everybody tastes different things when tasting the same wine. The reason that there are some many discriptors for wine is because wine complex. It is amazing really, how many fruits could you ferment to arrive with a finished product that tastes like a grape? None. However the grape, in it’s many a diverse varietal can after fermentation taste like, blackcurrant, peach, apricot, melon, lemon, lychee, plum, black cherry, strawberry, orange the list goes on and on.

So to answer the question, of course wine tasting should be fun, and its a great way to learn, interact, mingle, network, shmooze (if you like!). Ideal for a party or as a vehicle for corporate entertaining. Watch the video and see for yourself!

The video was filmed in the Wine Cave at the Angel Inn at Hetton and shows a wine tasting taking place as part of an Angel Auberge evening.
