Next week sees the Angel Inn compete in the final for the “Best Wine Pub” in the prestigious Publican Magazine’s Food and Drink Awards. The annual event recognises the Pub industry by rewarding achievement in a host of categories that span a diverse and vibrant industry. The Angel was a finalist two years ago when the award went to the Butcher’s Hook in Fulham.
“We took a keen note of the Butcher’s approach to wine, and Simon and I visited”, writes Pascal Watkins wine buyer for the Angel Inn, “we then implemented a new wine training package with the front of house staff . We have also intoduced wine and food matching suggestions with each new seasonal menu, so we’ve definitely improved since last time! We’re very excited but I’ve learnt not to get our hopes up, Andrew Banks of the Red Lion at Market Harborough has been up for the award three years so we really do wish him loads of luck!”
The awards will be announced at a Gala Ceremony at the Intercontinental on Park Lane next Thursday 25th November. Attending are Pascal Watkins(Head of Marketing), (Head Chef) Mark Taft and Joanne Byrne (Pa to the Directors). The three of them will be trying out Bocca Di Luppo at lunch time!
